SEC Technologies is a Slovak deep-tech company specializing in long-range stand-off detection of chemical, biological, and industrial threats. Founded in 2013, the company has been developing advanced security technologies based on active laser detection. Its flagship product, Falcon 4G, is a unique long-range active stand-off chemical detector capable of detecting, identifying, and quantifying toxic gases, chemical warfare agents, and toxic industrial chemicals at distances of up to several kilometers - in real time and without physical contact with the agent.

Unlike traditional detection methods, which often rely on sampling or require operators to approach the source of danger, Falcon 4G enables the remote detection and identification of chemical threats from a safe distance of up to 6 kilometers, including in challenging environmental conditions such as high humidity and rain. The technology is based on a patent-protected solution utilizing a pulsed CO₂ laser and the Differential Absorption LIDAR (DIAL) principle.

Behind this technology lies more than a decade of research and development in photonics, laser technologies, and detection systems. Today, SEC Technologies demonstrates how advanced deep-tech solutions developed in Slovakia can achieve global relevance and address critical challenges in security and safety. Its technologies are designed for environments where fast and reliable detection of hazardous substances is essential for protecting people, critical infrastructure, and industrial facilities.

We recognized the potential of SEC Technologies in 2021, when the company became one of the first investments of the Venture to Future Fund. Together with the investment platform Crowdberry, we participated in the company’s Series A investment round, which raised a total of €3 million, with VFF investing €1.5 million. The investment supported the further development of the Falcon 4G technology, expansion of production capabilities, and the company’s continued growth into international markets.

A new video series featuring innovative companies from the VFF portfolio

SEC Technologies is the first company featured in Venture to Future Fund’s new video series dedicated to innovative companies from our portfolio. Through interviews with founders and CEOs, we aim to showcase the stories of companies that transform scientific research, technology, and entrepreneurial vision into products with global potential.

In the first episode, SEC Technologies CEO Michal Šimko discusses the origins of Falcon 4G, the challenges of building a deep-tech company from Slovakia, and why a global mindset is essential from the very beginning when developing breakthrough technologies.
